Teacher Education retains Australia’s top undergraduate ranking
Strong results across several disciplines including Nursing, Communications, Science and Mathematics
The University of Wollongong (UOW) has retained its number one ranking in Australia for undergraduate Teacher Education in the latest ComparED results, with several other UOW disciplines also achieving top national and NSW rankings. It is the third year in a row that UOW has ranked first nationally for Teacher Education.
UOW’s undergraduate Nursing and Communications programs retained their number two rankings nationally and in NSW, while Science and Mathematics ranked first in NSW and equal seventh nationally. For postgraduate study, UOW ranked first in NSW and fourth nationally for both Medicine and Health Services and Support. Postgraduate Teacher Education and Social Work also ranked second in NSW.
UOW Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Helen Partridge said the results reflected the breadth of educational opportunities available to students.

Our postgraduate results also include first-place NSW rankings for Medicine and Health Services and Support, reflecting the strength of UOW’s programs across a range of disciplines.”

The 2025 Student Experience Survey (SES) results also show UOW undergraduate students reported positive experiences across all six major measures, with UOW scoring equal to or above the national sector average on each indicator.
The strongest result relative to the sector was Peer Engagement, with UOW recording a score of 68.5 per cent, 8.6 percentage points above the national sector average of 59.9 per cent. UOW also exceeded the sector average for Skills Development, Teaching Quality and Engagement, Learning Resources, and Student Support and Services.
Professor Partridge said the student experience results highlighted the importance of the learning environment and connections students develop during their studies.

The ComparED rankings combine multiple years of Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) data, including the Student Experience Survey, Course Experience Questionnaire and Graduate Outcomes Survey, providing a broader view than the single-year 2025 SES results.
