The University of Wollongong (UOW) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor D’Maris Coffman as Executive Dean, Faculty of Arts, Society and Business (ASB).
Professor Coffman joins UOW from University College London (UCL), where she currently serves as Vice-Dean (Innovation and Enterprise) in The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment.
An internationally recognised academic leader, Professor Coffman brings extensive experience in interdisciplinary education, research and faculty leadership. Throughout her career, she has held a range of senior leadership roles and built a strong reputation for innovation, collaboration and external engagement.
Her academic and leadership expertise spans economics, sustainability, digital transformation and public policy, fitting well with the breadth and diversity of disciplines within ASB.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Max Lu said UOW was fortunate to attract an outstanding academic leader like Professor Coffman from University College London.
“As Executive Dean, Professor Coffman will provide strategic leadership, supporting excellence in education and research, strengthening partnerships and helping shape the Faculty’s future contribution to UOW and the communities we serve,” Professor Lu said.
Professor Coffman said she was drawn to UOW's civic mission, regional identity and global ambition.
"I am honoured to join the University of Wollongong as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Business and Society. I see ASB as an interface faculty in the truest sense – one that connects education, business, law, policy, social science and the creative disciplines, and helps make institutional and societal complexity navigable,” she said.
“I look forward to working with all colleagues of the Faculty in shaping ASB’s future and contributing meaningfully to the life of the Illawarra, while making impact nationally and internationally.”
Professor Coffman will commence at UOW on 27 August.
Professor Lu thanked Professor Trish Mundy for her excellent leadership as Interim Executive Dean.
“Professor Mundy has provided steady support and guidance to the Faculty during a period of significant change, and I sincerely thank her for her dedicated leadership and commitment to our people and community,” Professor Lu said.
