UOW VC showcases vision for the Liverpool community
UOW Liverpool Growth Strategy to contribute to the economic development of the region
University of Wollongong (UOW) Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Patricia M. Davidson hosted key stakeholders from the Liverpool community to showcase UOW’s plans for its Liverpool campus and its goals for making high-quality education accessible to all.
The event was attended by Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun and key leaders from the University including the Chancellor Michael Still, and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Sydney Campuses) Professor Louise Hickman.
Mayor Mannoun and Council staff presented on the future opportunities in the region and emphasised the significance of UOW Liverpool's growth strategy in driving economic development in the region, aligning with the city's projections for substantial economic growth in the coming years.
University leaders also heard from students and community members, highlighting the transformative impact of UOW Liverpool on the broader community. Their stories underscored the importance of education in driving positive change and promoting prosperity for all.
Professor Davidson expressed her enthusiasm for the campus' growth strategy and its potential to make a significant impact on the Liverpool region and beyond.
“We are committed to excellence, equity, and innovation. Our work in Liverpool reflects these values and our commitment to creating positive outcomes for our students, our community, and society as a whole,” Professor Davidson said.
“The UOW Liverpool Growth Strategy is deeply rooted in addressing societal needs and aligning with government priorities.
By focusing on equity and inclusion, the campus aims to provide opportunities for more students to participate in higher education, regardless of background or circumstances.
“The strategy emphasises accessibility for communities located outside major cities, recognising the importance of providing quality education and resources to regional and rural areas.”
By strengthening partnerships with the VET sector, UOW Liverpool aims to ensure that its programs align with the evolving needs of the workforce, preparing students for successful careers in a rapidly changing job market.
