Students recognised for co-curricular achievements

The co-curricular achievements of UOW students were celebrated in a special award ceremony yesterday (Thursday 7 December).

UOWx, the University’s co-curricular recognition program, aims to connect students to valuable co-curricular activities that complement what students are learning in their academic studies. These activities aim to develop and improve student’s knowledge, skills and networks.

The formal end-of-year celebration acknowledged the achievements of the UOWx award recipients and thanked the coordinators of co-curricular programs for their significant contribution to the learning, skill development and enhanced employability of thousands of UOW students.

UOW Outreach, Pathways and Co-Curricular Manager, Kylie Austin, said student engagement increased significantly in 2017 as a result of the efforts of the UOWx team and program coordinators.

“This year, 20 UOWx awards and more than 800 UOWx records were received, which is an amazing result,” she said.

“Our celebration event last night demonstrated the depth and experience of UOWx Award recipients, including their personal and professional development, and an outline of the various programs and activities they have participated in during their time at UOW.

“We are so proud of all of these students, and wish them the best for what we know will be amazing futures.”

UOWx Award recipients included three students from regional and metropolital campuses (Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands and Southern Sydney) and 11 international students.
