UOW welcomes best and brightest Year 12 performers for annual reception

The top performing year 12 students in UOW’s key drawing regions were honoured during an afternoon reception at the University of Wollongong (UOW) on Friday (January 6).

Students, along with their parents, were invited to the Vice Chancellor’s High Achievers’ Reception, which provided the opportunity for UOW to recognise the outstanding academic achievements of the region’s best and brightest.

Students from Wollongong, the South Coast, Southern Highlands, South West Sydney, and the Southern Sydney regions and the ACT who received an ATAR in the high 90s attended the annual event.

UOW also offers the Vice-Chancellor’s High Achiever Scholarship to the top performing students in the state, which this year has expanded to include those who undertook the International Baccalaureate.

The scholarship package offers $5000 to students who choose to enrol at UOW in 2017.

Staff members from UOW’s executive and five faculties were also in attendance.

The Vice-Chancellor’s High Achievers’ Reception coincided with UOW’s Options Day, also held on Friday. The annual event, which helps high school leavers to meet with staff to choose the right path for their future, was held at UOW's Wollongong Campus and, for the first time, at the new South Western Sydney Campus in Liverpool.
