Chinese delegation welcomed to Wollongong

Wuhan University visit hosted by LHA

Building on a ten year collaboration between researchers in Chinese and Australian literatures, UOW's Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts recently hosted a visiting delegation of senior academics and research administrators from Wuhan University in China.

The delegation was welcomed to the University by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Paul Welling, CBE; the Deputy Vice Chancellor Global Strategy, Professor Alex Frino; and the Executive Dean of Law, Humanities and the Arts, Professor Amanda Lawson.

The delegation celebrated the successes of the relationship so far, and developed plans to continue staff and student exchange, joint PhD supervision, and a collaborative research symposium to be held in 2017.

Discussion also included the proposal to extend collaboration into maritime law, environmental humanities research, languages, international studies, and creative writing.

The visitors were joined in their meetings by a key Wuhan University partner, Dr Will Tuladhar Douglas, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Aberdeen.
