UOW signs MoU with Hong Kong’s largest school of nursing

The Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (THKPU) School of Nursing.

The THKPU Nursing School is one of the oldest and largest in Hong Kong and the installation of the MoU on 2 April 2014 will help bridge the gap between ‘Eastern’ and ‘Western’ philosophies in nursing.

Associate Professor Angela Brown was in Hong Kong to witness the signing of the MoU with Professor Alex Molasiotis from THKPU. The MoU aims to foster academic collaboration between the two universities through the exchange of academic and professional knowledge as well as academic staff and students. The partnership also means that UOW and THKPU can jointly perform research and seek funding for research projects and conferences.

Professor Marc in het Panhuis, Associate Dean (International), said: “This MoU presents new opportunities for the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health. UOW already has a presence in Hong Kong through offshore teaching activities in nursing. This new agreement will raise our international profile and will provide our staff and students with new opportunities to interact with Hong Kong.”
