Reception for high-achieving HSC students

Reception for high-achieving HSC students

A scholarship reception for high-achieving HSC students, who recently completed the Higher School Certificate, will be hosted by UOW Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Wellings tomorrow (Friday 3 January).

When: 3pm to 5pm, Friday 3 January

Where: Innovation Campus Function Rooms in the iC Central Building, Squires Way, North Wollongong

The Vice-Chancellor's High Achiever Scholarship is awarded to the top performing students from UOW’s drawing regions. Each student is offered a scholarship to the value of $3,000 if they proceed to enrol at UOW. Students invited to attend tomorrow scored ATARs ranging from 93.8 to 99.6.

Tomorrow’s event is held on the day prior to the close of Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) preferences. The event has two core purposes:

    • To deliver an engagement event that allows students to be recognised by the Vice Chancellor as an elite group.

    • An opportunity for students and faculty staff to discuss additional scholarship and course opportunities (e.g. Deans Scholar and Advanced programs).

To be eligible for one of the scholarships, students must be living within the University’s main drawing area (the Illawarra, Southern Sydney, South Western Sydney, Southern Highlands and the South Coast) and have UOW as a top-4 UAC preference.

More than 100 students and their parents are expected to attend tomorrow’s event.
