One of the world’s largest steel manufacturers visits UOW

Delegates from one of the world’s largest steel manufacturers, BaoSteel, visited UOW this week to collaborate with the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences.

UOW has a long-standing relationship with BaoSteel and the visit was a follow-up to BaoSteel's commitment of working collaboratively with UOW to develop materials through hot plate rolling of steels for various applications including energy pipelines.

The senior delegation led by the Director of the Research Institute of Baosteel, Professor Pijun Zhang, spent Monday 20 January at UOW and met with the CEO of the Energy Pipelines Co-operative Research Centre (CRC), Professor Valerie Linton, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research), Professor Judy Raper, Executive Dean of the Faculty, Professor Chris Cook and many other researchers and students.

Professor Zhang reiterated Baosteel’s commitment to guiding research and development values in combining product innovation with technological innovation. He said that by collaborating with leading global research teams like those at UOW, Baosteel is able to drive innovation and speed up the process of introducing the results of research to the international market.
