Networking After 5 connects local businesses with young talent

More than 100 local business people and 200 career-minded students are expected to attend Networking After 5 at the University of Wollongong on Thursday 10 April.

The guest speaker is Michael McCann, Director of Pactera’s Wollongong Delivery Centre.

Networking After 5, which is organised with the support of the Illawarra Business Chamber, provides local business representatives and non-for-profit organisations the opportunity to make contact with young talent, while simultaneously giving students the chance to develop their networking skills.

“Recruiters almost always include interpersonal and communication skills on their list of selection criteria. This of course means students need every opportunity they can get to practise these skills in professional settings, which is why events like Networking After 5 are so important,” Business Development Manager at UOW Careers Central, Ms Nuala O’Donnell, said.

UOW Careers Central Director, Mr Martin Smith, said: “Networking is a skill and will be an asset for our students and graduates. These events also mean local businesses can gain insight into the level of talent they will find at the University.”

Students who register for the event will be provided with personalised business cards to hand out to local business people who they make a connection with on the night.

WHEN: Thursday 10 April, 5.45-7.30PM
