Australia is home to more than 10% of the world’s lizard and snake species. This diversity is spread across a number of replicate radiations that can tell us what it takes to survive and thrive in Australia. Using genome-scale molecular data and new comparative methods I’ll address some of the fun and interesting evolutionary questions we’ve asked using snakes, lizards and frogs as models. Highlights include Antarctic treefrogs, social skinks, and competing goannas, to name a few. Come along and learn a bit more about the evolution of the amazing reptiles and amphibians we share our land with.

Ian Brennan is a postdoctoral researcher at The Australian National University where he studies the evolution of Australia’s unique vertebrate diversity.
