The Allan Sefton Memorial Lecture is held annually and is named in honour of the late Allan Sefton, who was well-known as a naturalist and conservator of the environment. The Lecture is a public occasion where a distinguished Australian scientist or environmental advocate speaks on a topic of wide environmental interest.
This year's guest speaker is Honorary Senior Professor Colin V. Murray-Wallace, who will be delivering a presentation titled "Long-term coastal environmental changes in southern Australia and the transition to a modern world – A personal Odyssey with reflections on the importance of geohistory."

About Honorary Senior Professor Colin V. Murray-Wallace
Colin V. Murray-Wallace is a Quaternary geologist and Honorary Senior Professor in the School of Science, University of Wollongong. He completed his PhD and DSc degrees in Geology at the University of Adelaide. Colin has worked in the University of Sydney (The N.W.G. Macintosh Centre for Quaternary Dating), University of Newcastle (Department of Geology), and University of Wollongong (Department of Geology; School of Geosciences; School of Earth and Environmental Sciences; School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences, and more recently School of Science). His long-standing research interests include investigations of Quaternary sea-level changes, coastal evolution, neotectonics, cool water carbonate sedimentary environments, amino acid racemization dating, and more recently the history of Geology. In addition to numerous research articles, he has published three books – Quaternary Sea-Level Changes: A global perspective (Cambridge, 2014), Coastal Landscapes of South Australia (2016) and Quaternary History of the Coorong Coastal Plain, Southern Australia (2018) and served as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Quaternary Science Reviews (2008–2016). He received the A. H. Voisey Medal from the Geological Society of Australia, and the Mawson Medal from the Australian Academy of Science.
