Luminaries and GongTalks - International Women's Day Panel Discussion


To mark International Women's Day in 2024, the University of Wollongong (UOW) will host a free in-person Luminaries panel discussion at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, focusing on women's financial freedom and housing stability. 

Hosted by Sydney Morning Herald Senior Social Affairs writer Caitlin Fitzsimmons, the event will delve into the critical issues surrounding women's economic empowerment and access to secure housing. The panel will include UOW Chief Integrity Officer Professor Trish Mundy, Executive Director of the Illawarra Women’s Health Centre Sally Stevenson, Gamilaroi woman and UOW Conscious Community Lead Catherine Moyle, and Executive Manager of Marketing & Stakeholder Engagement of The Housing Trust (Illawarra/Shoalhaven) Rachel Foster.

The evening will begin with drinks and canapés in the IPAC foyer, accompanied by music from the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, followed by the panel discussion from 7 pm.

The event is part of UOW’s Luminaries Series which brings together leading UOW researchers, industry experts and thought leaders, in conjunction with UOW Local, which connects the university to the community and industry to creating economic and social opportunities that are inclusive of diverse cultures and perspectives.
