What would an alternative logic look like?

Logicians and philosophers sometimes propose to address problems by revising our logic. But what does this really mean? This talk will be an introduction to alternative logics, the motivations logicians give for making changes, and the problems that new logics sometimes run into. 

Professor Gillian Russell

Gillian Russell is Professor of Philosophy at the Dianoia Institute at ACU, Melbourne. She is the author of numerous books and articles in logic, the philosophy of language, and epistemology, and her new book, Barriers to Entailment, will be coming out with Oxford University Press in September.
