About the speakers:

Catherine Stephens RN BN (Hons) - University of Wollongong

Catherine is a Registered Nurse (RN), Lecturer and PhD Candidate at the School of Nursing, University of Wollongong. Her doctoral project is a randomised control trial of a nurse-led intervention to improve hypertension management in Primary Care. Catherine is an early career researcher with a keen interest in primary health care, nurse-led intervention, chronic disease and hypertension management.

Rachel McKittrick RN BAppSci MPH MACN - Deakin University

A Registered Nurse (RN) and early career aged care services researcher, Rachel cares about Australians’ ability to access safe, quality, efficient and sustainable aged care. Currently, Rachel is undertaking a PhD exploring workforce requirements for quality, safe and efficient home-based aged care, which includes investigating the RN role for this care setting.

Dr Sharon James RN BN Grad Dip OHSN MPH PhD MACN - Monash University

Dr Sharon is an experienced primary health care nurse and APNA Board Director who completed her PhD about lifestyle risk factor communication in 2020. Her other interests include women’s health, communication, preventive care, chronic disease management and nursing roles in primary health care.

Caroline Gibson MACN RN - University of Newcastle.

Caroline is a primary health care nurse with a special interest in the care of people living with dementia and their support person(s). Caroline led the ‘Improving dementia care in primary practice – a nurse-enhanced model of cognition care’ project at Ballarat Community Health. Currently she is completing a PhD on the role of the Practice Nurse in delivering relationship centred best practice dementia care.
