Our Student Ambassador Program employs current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students to mentor and support Aboriginal high school students from Years 7–12 through the My Future Matters program.
Ambassadors play a vital role in walking alongside young people as they explore their aspirations, strengths, and possible pathways beyond school. Drawing on their own lived experiences, Ambassadors provide culturally safe mentoring that centres Aboriginal identity, community, and belonging. Through school visits, workshops, campus experiences, and ongoing engagement, they help students build confidence, learn about post-school options, and see higher education as an achievable and welcoming pathway.
The program creates meaningful connections between university and community, ensuring Aboriginal students feel supported, represented, and empowered to make informed choices about their futures.
This year, the program has grown significantly, with an increased number of Ambassadors ready to give back and support the next generation. Their strong commitment to community and passion for supporting our mob is helping to create stronger educational pathways and positive future outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
