All Campuses, Faculties and Units should plan ahead and prepare for the approaching Christmas/ New Year break.  By taking simple measures the opportunity for theft is reduced and it makes it more difficult for thieves to achieve their goals.

  • Report lost or stolen keys, access cards and identification cards to your Supervisor and UOW Security immediately

A few years ago, Wollongong Campus Faculties & Units experienced several break-and-enter incidents.  In these incidents, University keys found in drawers and other small equipment items were taken by thieves. We were fortunate to recover many of these items.  If keys are stolen from any office this will necessitate a re-key of the affected space at the Faculty/Unit’s cost.

Will you be at Wollongong or Innovation Campus during the break?

If you attend Wollongong or Innovation Campus during the Christmas break make sure you have your staff or student identification with you.

Security staff will conduct random security patrols of buildings. Officers cannot be expected to know everyone on campus, so be prepared to show your identification if asked.  Officers may record your name, time and location as part of their patrol duties. Please do not be offended by these practices.

If you wish you can alert Security when you are on campus day or night during the break period. You can do this easily by using the “check in timer” feature on the SafeZone app. Confirm your time on campus and cancel it when you are finished.  Officers will respond to any alert generated by your expired check in timer.  If you need help or need to report something then use either the emergency alert button or the help call button.

If you require assistance, use the SafeZone app when on campus or within a SafeZone zone or please call 42214555 or the mobile telephone 0407 287750.

To report emergencies use the SafeZone app or call 42214900.  Dial #1 from any Security telephone.

All our telephones are supported by a third party Call Centre.

Will you be at a Metropolitan or Regional Campus during the break?

Shoalhaven, UOW Bega, UOW Batemans Bay, UOW Southern Highlands (Moss Vale), UOW Southern Sydney (Loftus), South Western Sydney (Liverpool) and Sydney Campus (Circular Quay).

  • Staff and students of Metropolitan and Regional campuses should refer to their campus security contact details in the event that assistance is required, or it is necessary to report an incident or emergency.
  • In extreme circumstances, UOW Security Wollongong team acting as UOW’s Emergency Co-ordination Centre can take your call and help co-ordinate advice and assistance.
  • Don’t forget that SafeZone app works on all campuses.  UOW Security Wollongong team respond to all alerts for all campuses, except for Shoalhaven Campus which is responded to by the local service provider.
