WIC Mentoring Program

Woolyungah Mentoring Program

Activity overview

How is this program run?

This program is run both online & in-person

What will I do?

The Woolyungah Indigenous Centre (WIC) Mentoring Program is a student-led mentoring program that partners Indigenous students with professional Indigenous UOW alumni. Mentees engage in the program over an 8-week period, with aims to further develop employability skills, networking and industry awareness. The objectives of the program is to give students the opportunity to demonstrate and apply experiential learning and achieve increased readiness to enter the workforce through development of a mentor relationship.

How will I benefit?

The program will enhance students’ and alumni’s sense of belonging to the University community as they are presented with the tools to undertake a successful mentoring partnership. It will give both partners the opportunity to develop planning and prioritising skills to engage successfully in the program, as well as contributing positively to both participant’s learning, communication and knowledge building skills. It will also engage mentees and mentors to think critically and reflectively about the outcomes they wish to achieve through the partnership.
