How is this program run?

What will I do?

The Student Initiated Production (SIP) allows students the opportunity to direct and/or devise a theatre or performance work. The students are mentored through all aspects of 'putting on a show' under an industry model.


How will I benefit?

Producing and directing a theatre or performance work requires the development and implementation of the following organisational skills:

  • Cast: auditions, casting, rehearsing, developing creative ideas, scheduling
  • Crew: scheduling, lighting design, sound design, special FX, set design and costuming
  • Publicity: image, media release, poster, program
  • Front of House: ticketing, bookings, FOH staff

Also collaboration with other directors in getting the event up and running.


How do I apply?

Applications forms are available on School of the Arts, English and Media website in Week 10.


Are there any special requirements for this role?

The applicant must be at 200 level or above to apply.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will need to complete a minimum of 20 hours within a calendar year
  • A "highly engaged" student will need to complete a minimum of 40 hours within a calendar year
