Australia's Participation in the Allied Occupation of Japan Program

Activity overview

How is this program run?

This program is running in-person.

What will I do?

Students will work online with students from Sophia University in Tokyo to learn about Australia's participation in the Allied Occupation of Japan. The objective is for the Australian students to learn about Australia's participation and for the Japanese students to learn that the occupation was not only an American occupation. Students will learn to walk in small groups and learn to communicate cross-culturally.

Students will be required to attend an online public lecture about the occupation and work in teams over a number of weeks to put together the presentation. Students will need to co-ordinate with the students in Japan to arrange times to meet online taking into account the time difference.
