Message to students
Dear Students, Welcome to Spring Session!
I hope you all had a great break, and I hope your exams were successful. And please remember that no matter how well you did last session, now is a fresh new start. If you are having challenges – please reach out to the many services designed to support you.
If you have just started your journey at the University of Wollongong (UOW), I extend a warm welcome as you embark on this new chapter of life. If you don’t know me yet, my name is Patricia Davidson and I have the honour and privilege of being your Vice-Chancellor and President at the University of Wollongong (UOW).
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt joy in seeing our campuses come alive with your presence once again. Seeing the lawns, shops and coffee shops bustling with energy and you all engaging in a myriad of fun activities during It’s Go Time has been truly amazing. It reminds me of my time at University, and seeing it happen at each of our campuses is one big part of my role that I cherish.
The new Session brings fresh opportunities for growth, learning and making meaningful connections; academic or otherwise. Our University is a vibrant community of scholars, both established and emerging – and you’re a part of it.
For this Spring Session, I encourage you to set ambitious goals, embrace challenges and seek support when needed. Remember, your professors, advisors and fellow students are here to assist you on your academic journey. And remember, social learning is good learning – we get more out of study when we participate and learn together.
Let’s continue to include, respect and empathise with others. Embrace diversity, celebrate different perspectives and contribute to creating a harmonious and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Make sure you take care of your health – mental and physical. There are resources on campus to help you.
As we embrace the energy of new beginnings, I also want to wish good luck to those students just finishing their Trimester 2 and starting their study recess and exams. Remember to stay focused, believe in your abilities and trust that your hard work will yield great results.
Work hard, have fun and take care of yourself and colleagues.
My warmest,
Trish
