Steel Research Hub Welcomes David Varcoe as Chair of Advisory Committee

It is with great pleasure we announce that David Varcoe from the Australian Steel Institute has accepted the role to Chair the Advisory Committee of the ARC Steel Research Hub (SRH).

David is an experienced technology and commercialisation executive with proven capability to initiate, develop, and implement new products and manufacturing processes. During a career spanning almost 30 years with BlueScope Steel and BHP Steel, he worked at senior management level across several countries in the areas of manufacturing, plant commissioning, major capital projects, strategy development, technical marketing, technology assessment and evaluation, process technology commercialisation, new product development, and project management.

David’s professional background, expertise and standing in the steel industry, together with the technical and executive roles he has undertaken across both steel process and product innovation area, will provide an outstanding level of oversight and guidance for the Advisory Committee.  Furthermore, his current role with the Australian Steel Institute, State Manager NSW & ACT / National Manufacturing Advisor, will provide a significant independent voice and alternate perspective of the industry.

With the first Advisory Committee meeting being planned for early 2022, we are sure David will contribute significantly to the future strategic direction of the ARC Steel Research Hub through his insights and experience.
