The panel
Yael Stone
Funding Director, Hi Neighbour and Australian actor
Yael Stone is best known for playing Lorna Morello in the award-winning Netflix series, ‘Orange Is the New Black’.
In January 2020 during the height of the Australian bushfires, Yael announced that she would be abandoning her US Green Card, returning home to Australia as a symbol of her commitment to reducing CO2 emissions. Since then, Yael has become the Funding Director of Hi Neighbour — an organisation that uses solar projects to fund scholarships for local workers training for technical low carbon jobs. She’s also currently studying a Bachelor of Sustainable Communities at the University of Wollongong (UOW).
Angela Saville
Founder, Business Owner & Entrepreneur, Savvy Fitness
Angela Saville is the example of a perfect pivot. She left the stability of teaching after seven years to follow her love of fitness and created Savvy Fitness (Savvy). While Savvy has become one of the biggest outdoor fitness companies in Australia, Angela’s business journey has not been without its challenges. The pandemic shut down her business almost overnight and it was Angela’s adaptability that propelled it forward during this time. More recently, Savvy has integrated with Amplified Health, a reputable provider of allied health and clinical therapies. Angela now directs over 50 staff, and services over 1,000 clients for recreational and clinical needs. Angela will unveil her insights on successful pivots and the invaluable lessons she has learnt during her career.
Ellie Lezcano
Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Binary Tech Global
Ellie Lezcano has played a significant role as the CFO at Binary Tech Global, driving the growth of the company and expanding the application of its emerging Massive Internet of Things (IoT) technology into new markets. Starting in 2016 as Binary Beer — with the goal to connect the world's beer kegs through the internet — COVID-19 lockdowns and the subsequent freeze on all keg movements globally led to an urgent need to pivot for business sustainability. Identifying opportunities in the medical and waste management industries, the Binary team rebranded and relaunched their core-technologies to become global leaders in Massive IoT in multiple industries. Ellie brings a wealth of experience as CFO, managing financial decisions as well as day-to-day operations through unpredictable times.
