Love and Information, written by Caryl Churchill, is made up of seven sections, each containing a variety of short scenes, ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes in length.

Churchill has been one of England’s favourite and enduring playwrights with work spanning six decades, her early plays are in constant revival and her more recent work is still at the very leading edge in exploration into the possibilities of written text in contemporary theatre.

Love and Information brings into focus the information age where all human experience is mediated by new technologies and the economies of communication.

At times comic sometimes cruel and tragic this compendium of scenes never settles but shifts as if through a thousand distractions.

This performance of the play was developed over the course of ten weeks, through a process of joint exploration between the second year cast and director Tim Maddock.

Director, Tim Maddock is Senior Lecturer in performance and theatre. He was a founding member of the Red Shed Theatre Company for whom he designed, directed and acted, later directing works for Brink Productions, notably co-directing a nine-hour epic, The Ecstatic Bible with Howard Barker and the Wrestling School for the Adelaide Festival. He has also directed Furious Mattress for Malthouse Theatre, Like a Fishbone for Griffin Theatre Company and Sydney Theatre Company and Daniel Keene’s The Serpent’s Teeth also for STC.
