Metal catalysed activation/ functionalization of C-H bond is an attractive strategy to transform organic substrates. Such strategies are utilized to install various functionalities on an organic building block and then further transform them to generate libraries of molecules with diverse architecture. One of the research areas of our group is to investigate new functionalization strategies of organic building blocks. I will discuss such an approach on indoles and their subsequent application in the generation of natural product inspired biologically active scaffolds.
