The Bill Wheeler Community Symposium and Award is on again in 2019. The 2019 feature presentation will be given by Prof Gerard Sutton from the Lions NSW Eye Bank and University of Sydney.

Bill Wheeler was a very active member of the Illawarra community who took a keen interest in new bionics research at the University of Wollongong. In honour of Bill, each year the Bill Wheeler Award is presented to an outstanding UOW Bionics student at this community event.
A prize of $2,000 is awarded to the applicant who best communicates the social impact of their research and how the prize will benefit their work.
