Course Description
The Master of Information Technology Studies (MITS) and the Master of Information Technology Studies Advanced degrees are for graduates from a non-ICT area who wish to further their knowledge of the ICT sector and apply technical skills in the workplace.
Entry Requirements
Academic requirements, English language requirements, assumed knowledge and credit transfer details are available from Course Finder.
credit arrangements
Students articulating from the Master of Information Technology Studies Advanced to the Master of Information & Communication Technology (MICT) or Master of Information & Communication Technology Advanced (MICTAdv) may be eligible for up to 18 credit points (cp) of credit transfer. Students should note the following two constraints on this credit transfer:
i) students who use up to 18 cp of MTS subjects towards to MICT or MICTAdv will not be eligible for the major in Information Systems Development in the MICT or MICTAdv;
ii) students who undertake the Enterprise Systems Management program in MITS may use up to 18cp of ISIT subjects towards the MICT or MICTAdv. However, they must NOT take more than three subjects from the core of that program (ie of the MICT core). Students who complete four subjects from the MICT core while undertaking the MITS will not be able to count the fourth subject and so would not be able to complete one of the requirements of the MICT or MICT(Adv).

WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING/INTERNSHIP SUBJECTS
GLOBAL WORKPLACE PRACTICE (GWP800)
An informative and intensive subject designed to meet the employment aspirations of international students to undertake work in Australia. This subject crosses boundaries between theory and practice and will maximise the student's potential to access workplace experiences leading to formal post-university employment options. Students will acquire and develop work-based learning skillsets; will critically examine the discourses and theories of intercultural competence, as well as develop cultural awareness and business communication skills that are fit-for-purpose regardless of students' career aspirations. It also provides an opportunity for students to integrate and apply their university knowledge in an industry context.
Trimester 2 and Spring 2014 applications for GWP800 on Wollongong Campus are now OPEN.
For more information on GWP800, visit the Work Integrated Learning website.
Professional Recognition
The Master of Information Technology Studies Advanced meets the requirements for membership of the Australian Computer Society at the Professional Level.
