How Early Admission helps UOW Liverpool students go further

Like many students finishing Year 12, applying for university can be both an exciting and stressful time. For Ryan, he knew he wanted to continue his studies at university and was looking for three things; to study close to home, experience a world-class education that builds his practical skills whilst gaining real-world experiences and to connect with the community around him. That led him to apply for Early Admission at UOW Liverpool, and accepting his offer to enrol in a double degree in Business and Law.  

“I chose to study at UOW Liverpool because of the university’s focus on practical opportunities and industry engagement,” Ryan expressed. 

From the classroom to the workplace

UOW Liverpool campus boasts comprehensive facilities, personalised learning experiences and support services. The University’s practical way of teaching has given Ryan opportunities to excel his study outside the campus and into the world of work.  

As part of his Law degree, Ryan underwent UOW’s compulsory 20-day legal internship. As part of the curriculum, it allows Law students to put their learning into practice, see how the legal industry operates and build professional networks. Additionally, his business studies have also allowed him to complete opportunities to work on projects and gain experiences beyond the classroom.

UOW Liverpool student opportunities

Ryan has made the most of the opportunities available for students at UOW Liverpool and has been keen to get involved and create some of his most valuable university experiences.  

From working as a Student Engagement Officer and Student Ambassador to becoming a Peer Learning Coach and being UOW Liverpool’s campus representative for the Student Advisory Council. These roles and opportunities have helped him develop new skills, support other students and give back to the campus community.  

“Each position gave me the chance to contribute to campus culture, champion student needs and strengthen the sense of community that makes Liverpool truly unique,” Ryan said. 

Engaging with campus opportunities has allowed Ryan to take his first steps into the legal profession. UOW Careers and Employability team connected Ryan with opportunities that ultimately led to a role as a Commercial Litigation Paralegal at a Sydney CBD law firm.

Study local, go further

Growing up in Sydney’s Inner West, Ryan has watched Liverpool grow into a diverse and dynamic part of Western Sydney. Studying at UOW Liverpool at Civic Place means he can stay connected to the community he already knew while becoming part of a growing university community. 

“Liverpool is far more than a backdrop to my studies… It is a hub of growth, diversity and leadership.” 

His advice to students considering UOW Liverpool is simply to get involved. 

“Embrace every service and opportunity the UOW Liverpool campus provides, because you never know where it might lead; whether it is academic support, leadership pathways or even international experiences.” 

Ryan’s Early Admission offer was the beginning of his UOW journey. Since then, his experiences in the classroom, on campus and beyond have helped him take his first steps towards his future career.
