Future-proof Finance

"Secure a degree that outlasts AI"

Dr. Rajsee Joshi Shah transitioned from banking and insurance underwriting into FinTech education, bringing real industry experience into the classroom. Now Academic Manager, Business and Fintech at UOW India, her conviction is clear: the shelf life of a traditional business degree is shrinking - so her program is built to stay ahead of change.

What is your teaching mantra?

More than knowledge - what students need is the ability to apply it. That's why I follow a Glocal teaching approach, blending global FinTech trends with local market realities and opportunities. Every concept is grounded in experiential learning, ensuring students gain hands-on exposure to the technologies, and business challenges shaping the future of finance. They leave the classroom not just informed, but job-ready and future-ready.

Where do your students go after UOW India?

They graduate with an exclusive advantage: The ability to translate between finance and technology. Our students are positioned for some of the most exciting opportunities in the Finance and Tech space. The degree opens doors across banking, insurance, asset management, compliance, fintech, and consulting.

Students apply finance the way industry uses it - hands-on. Dr. Rajsee Joshi Shah

What does industry need that traditional teaching often misses?

“Application. Employers don't hire for knowledge alone - they hire for impact. They want graduates who can analyze, adapt, collaborate, and deliver results in real-world environments. That's why our students learn through industry projects, corporate interactions, and hands-on experiences that mirror the workplace.

Can you share a project that mirrors real industry work?

“Our students don't work on hypothetical problems - they tackle the kinds of challenges organisations face today. In our FinTech Applications course, students analyse real issues faced by banks and insurers, evaluate how emerging technologies can address them, and produce professional research reports with practical recommendations.”

What’s the most important skill you teach?

“Critical thinking. AI can generate information, but it can't replace judgement. I teach students to question assumptions, analyse evidence, and make decisions with confidence. Combined with strong research skills, this gives them an advantage that employers consistently value."

What’s your advice to parents?

“Choose a degree built for the future, not the past. In an AI-driven world, FinTech equips you with skills that stay relevant, in demand, and ahead of change.”

Critical thinking is the skill employers ask for most

Questions parents & students ask

Does a UOW India FinTech degree lead to real careers?

Yes. Graduates have the opportunity to explore a career across banking, insurance, asset management, compliance and technology, in GIFT City and beyond.

Is FinTech taught with real industry experience?

Yes - learning here is designed to be deeply experiential. Through company visits, guest lectures by industry experts, and hands-on, real-world projects.

Why study FinTech instead of a general business degree?

Because the future of business is not just management - it is finance powered by technology and data. FinTech equips you with hybrid skills in finance, coding, analytics, and digital systems that are increasingly in demand and far less likely to be automated than generalist business knowledge.
