Course Learning Outcomes

Students graduating from the Graduate Diploma in Adult and Vocational Education will demonstrate:

  1. Broad discipline knowledge of adult learning principles and also the different approaches to teaching adult learners from a diversity of backgrounds.
  2. Sound understanding of the various approaches to teaching within the adult and vocational education field as well as underpinning knowledge of how to initiate, plan, implement and evaluate programs.
  3. Expert, advanced cognitive, technical and communication skills to select and apply methods and technologies to:
    1. Assess adult learners’ needs;
    2. Analyse the specific demands and requirements of diverse learners;
    3. Design, plan, implement and evaluate vocational education and adult learning programs in state, national and international settings;
    4. Observe, reflect on and critique pedagogical practices.
  4. Capacity for differentiated instruction for diverse groups of adult learners.
  5. Sound understanding of curriculum design and evaluation principles both in face to face and online environments.

 

Course Structure

Students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Adult & Vocational Education, must complete 48 credit points, comprising:

  1. 5 core subjects to the value of 30cp; and
  2. 3 elective subjects to the value of 18cp as outlined in the table below:
