Course Description
The Graduate Diploma in Education Conversion (Secondary) provides a conversion course for students with an existing qualification in Primary teaching who wish to re-train as Secondary teachers.
Students are required to successfully complete Methods subjects and Professional Experience relevant to their particular area of study, plus any other requirements as set out by the NSW Institute of Teachers.
Method areas may differ from year to year. Students are advised to check with the Faculty regarding the availability of specific Methods subjects.

Professional accreditation/recognition
The NSW Department of Education & Communities regards a Bachelor degree followed by a Graduate Diploma in Education as being equivalent to four year trained status.
Please note that to teach in Victoria or in Queensland the four year status is the Graduate Diploma in Education plus a Master of Teaching Studies.
