Other Ways to Develop Your English Skills on Campus

The following classes and resources are available at the UOW Wollongong Campus to assist International Students to further develop their English Language skills.

UOW Learning Development Centre

Each session the UOW Learning Development Centre provides a series of “English for Academic Purposes (EAP)” workshops for International Students. These 1 hour workshops are free and are run at lunchtimes from 12.30-1.30pm.

The Learning Development Centre also offers a range of other services including and individual appointments to assist you to improve your work and resources that you can download.

UOW College Self Access Resources

Resources are available at the UOW College to assist College and University students to improve their English language skills. There is no cost to use the resources and the centres are open Monday to Friday from 8.30am-5pm.

The Multimedia Centre Listening Lab is located in Building 30 Room 103. The lab provides unlimited self access to English resources so students can practise pronunciation, intonation and listening comprehension independently.

The Multimedia Centre Library is located in Building 30 Room 102. The Library provides unlimited self access to English language resources so students can practise reading and vocabulary skills independently.

Including English Subjects in Your UOW Degree

Many students can chose to develop their English Language skills in subjects that give them credit towards their degree. There are subjects offered at UOW on effective written communications and effective spoken communication. Further information about these subjects is available from the Language Centre.

Don’t forget to check with your Sub-Dean about how these subjects could count towards your qualification.
