The Alumni Relations and Engagement Team facilitate the University's ongoing relationship with its alumni through an annual program of events, activities, benefits and communications.

Answers to our most common questions can be found below. If you can't find the answer you're after please call or email us.

Q. What does "Alumni" mean?

The word 'alumni' [uh-luhm-nigh] means the graduates of a university. At the University of Wollongong graduates, exchange students and honorary award recipients are considered alumni.


Q. Do I need to join the alumni community?

When you graduate from UOW you are automatically part of the global alumni community. Remember to keep your details up to date with UOW. 

Q. Do I need to update my contact details with UOW?

Yes. To continually benefit from your relationship with UOW, please stay in touch by keeping your details up-to-date. You can do this using the update my details form.


Q. How can I contact some of my friends from UOW?

Due to privacy restrictions, UOW cannot give you your friend's contact details.


Q. Should I tell UOW when I change my job?

Yes. We'd like to know where our alumni are working, so we encourage all alumni to tell us about their career moves using the update my details form.

Q. What are the benefits for alumni?

All alumni are entitled to a range of benefits and volunteering opportunities, you can view the full list over on our benefits for alumni page.


Q. Can I keep my UOW email account?

Your UOWmail account will be available for a period of 6 months past the end date of your course. Once this 6 months has passed, your UOWmail account will be deactivated.

Should you re-enrol as a UOW student in the future, your UOWmail account will be automatically recreated with your original username.

To ensure you remain updated about opportunities and benefits for UOW alumni, please update your contact details including your preferred personal email address.


Q. Can I use the UOW Library?

Yes, you're entitled to a free alumni UOW Library membership.


Q. How do I find out about events at UOW?

UOW hosts social and professional events for alumni and friends of the university. Access the UOW Alumni Events Calendar for information on upcoming events and activities at UOW.


Q. How do I get an alumni discount card?

To request your card please email alumni@uow.edu.au and include your full name and postal address. The discount card is only required to claim discounts in Wollongong, all other discounts can be claimed without a card.


Q. How do I subscribe to the alumni newsletter?

You automatically receive our alumni e-newsletter plus invitations to events and occasionally other communications which may be relevant to you. You can change your subscriptions at any time using the subscription preferences form.

Q. How can I get a certified copy of my UOW qualification?

You need to complete the relevant request form available on the Official UOW Documentation webpage. The Student Service team handles these requests, so please contact them if you have questions or require further information: email askuow@uow.edu.au


Q. How can I get my employee's UOW qualification verified?

There are a number of education verification options available to third parties:

  1. You can check UOW’s public graduation roll
  2. Ask to see your employee's hard copy certified academic document(s)
  3. Ask your employee to provide you with a link to their digital academic document(s) issued via My eQuals

Q. Are there any UOW services and facilities that the community can use?

Yes, UOW offers a range of services and facilities including childcare, entertainment and accommodation.


Q. How can I donate books to the Alumni Bookshop?

Donations can be delivered to the Alumni Bookshop during its opening hours from February to November. Please contact the Alumni Bookshop on +61 2 4221 5977 or visit their Facebook page.
