Student Services and Amenities Fee
Australian universities, including UOW, have a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) which is used to enhance the services and amenities for students across UOW. The fee is payable by all students and is used to fund priorities set out by the students as part of a consultative process.
Cross-institutional and non-award
There are alternate ways to study at UOW, including bridging courses to enable further study, cross-institutional study from other Australian universities and non-award study for those not studying towards a degree.
Administrative charges
At UOW, you may need to pay extra administrative charges associated with your degree, such as late charges, graduation fees or replacement charges.
Non-payment penalties
It is important fees are paid on time to avoid late payment penalties.
Accommodation fees
UOW has a range of university managed accommodation at varying fees to suit your needs.
Graduation
Students attending their graduation ceremony will need to pay a graduation fee.
Library
It is important borrowed items are returned to the Library on time and in good condition to avoid library fines.
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
As an international student, it is a requirement of your student visa that you have student health cover for the duration of your study in Australia. Bupa is the University's chosen OSHC provider, and the cost for UOW to organise OSHC through Bupa is outlined on your offer letter.
Visa costs
All international students require a visa which entitles them to study at the University of Wollongong. There are costs associated with the visa application process charged by the Department of Home Affairs.
Living costs
Wollongong enjoys a reasonable cost of living, although, your cost of living will vary according to lifestyle and personal requirements. The Department of Home Affairs also sets financial capacity requirements international students must satisfy, including 12 months of living costs.
Parking and transport
UOW has various parking options available at our Wollongong campus, and you may need to pay according to the different parking conditions. As UOW’s parking is limited and in high demand, we strongly encourage using public transport, walking or cycling where possible.
Study overseas
If you choose to study overseas on an exchange program, you will continue to pay tuition to UOW. You will pay for your airfare, visas, overseas accommodation and any applicable host uni fees.
Other non-tuition costs
At UOW, you may need to pay for other costs associated with your degree, such as textbooks, equipment, printing, criminal record checks or vaccinations.
Surcharge rates
Payment by debit or credit card will have a surcharge applied. This includes payments made for tuition and non-tuition charges.
