What's a Zip File?

A zip file is a compressed version of one or more files and folders. It is smaller than the original files, so it can be sent from place to place more quickly, then unpacked at its destination.

WebCT can make zip files (zip the files together) and can also unpack them (unzip them). On our own machines, we can use a shareware application called Zipit 1.4 to make a single zip file from a number of files and folders. You may like to get your own copy of Zipit 1.4 (http://www.maczipit.com/). Windows users frequently use WinZip (http://www.winzip.com/).
