Cityrail trackwork and timetable changes

Dear train travellers,
Cityrail have informed us that they will be replacing trains with buses for some weekday services over the next few weeks. There are 2 trains between Thirroul and Port Kembla which are affected this week (around 10:30am), but the most significant changes are in the fortnight of 27th Sept to 8th Oct when it appears most trains on the South Coast line through the bulk of the day may be impacted. Trains north of Wollongong are mostly replaced by buses and trains south may be running to different timetables. The first of these weeks is our mid session break, and the Monday of the 2nd week is a public holiday, however 4 days will be normal UOW session days.

Cityrail have commited to ensuring sufficient buses are provided. They have also been asked if the buses used can deliver and pickup directly at the university, but this they are unable to do for contractual reasons.

UOW North Gong Shuttle buses will continue to run to their current timetable since the Cityrail bus times though different from the trains will not be sufficiently predictable. However the Shuttle bus drivers are aware of the issues and will be as flexible as possible.

Note also that the South Coast train timetable is being changed as at 10th October. The UOW Shuttle bus timetable will be updated from that date to allow for this. Please expect a further communication with links to new timetables before this happens.

Regards
Tom Hunt
