Finding books

Books are published in two formats: electronic (online) and in print.

Electronic books

The UoW Library has electronic books (ebooks) in a range of subject areas. All UOW students, irrespective of study location, have access to electronic books from the University of Wollongong Library.

You can search for electronic books using the UoW Library catalogue. To find electronic books for an assignment, view demonstration or download the pdf.

Print books

To search for print books for an essay or assignment you will need to search your local library catalogue using a keyword search.

When looking for books on a topic and the author or title is unknown, it is best to search a Library catalogue using a keyword search. Catalogues may look different but they usually work the same way. Choose one example below to see how this is done.

Tip: Remember, most libraries have much larger collections of print books than ebooks.

Tip: It is important to evaluate your search results. If you find too many items or too few items consider narrowing or broadening your search by changing your keywords.

You have now completed this section. Move on to Finding Journal Articles.
