Three reasons why it’s not too late to study in 2023

Ready for the next step in your career?

You don’t have to wait until next year to start studying at UOW.

Contemplating university study can be both daunting and exciting, especially if it's been a while since you last hit the books. You might be halfway through a gap year or have spent some time in the workforce and are thinking about a career change.

Whatever your circumstances, many people put off taking the next step toward studying because they assume they must wait until the beginning of the academic year to start. However, that is not the case. UOW offer mid-year entry options that come with their own unique advantages.

Here are three reasons why it's not too late to start studying in July.

1. Course flexibility

Mid-year entry offers course flexibility. You can still choose from a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses during the mid-year intake. Most UOW degrees offer both Autumn and Spring session start dates, which you can easily check through Course Finder. This means that you don't have to put your dream degree on hold any longer. Whether you have a specific program in mind or you're exploring different options, mid-year entry allows you to start pursuing your goals right away.

2. Personalised support

Mid-year students receive the same personalised support as those who start studying at the beginning of the year. UOW understands that transitioning into university life can be challenging, regardless of the entry point.

We offer a suite of free support services and resources designed to enhance your university experience and help you settle into your studies. From academic support and counselling services to career guidance and student mentorship programs, you'll have access to a wide range of resources to support your journey.

Mid-year students also get to experience our multi-week orientation event, It's Go Time, which covers everything you need to know about UOW. This includes enrolment support events, a fun-filled O-week, and various other activities designed to connect you with your new community and set you up for success.

3. Fast-track your future

Starting your studies in July can fast-track your future. You don't have to wait until next year to make a start on your educational journey, especially if the course you're interested in is offered during Spring session. By taking advantage of the mid-year entry option, you'll have the added benefit of having a break from study, allowing you to enter your course refreshed and ready to learn.

There is also no disadvantage in starting mid-year as the course content remains the same, and you'll be learning alongside students who are at different stages in their academic journey. It's never too late to chase your dreams, and mid-year entry provides a wonderful opportunity to do just that.
