Greg Doherty

I have retired from full time work at Wollongong University and ANSTO, Lucas Heights. I lecture casually at Wollongong University, mostly at the Loftus campus, and am a casual scientific computing consultant at ANSTO.

My phone number at ANSTO is 02 9717 3351 My UoW email address is greg@uow.edu.au

I have a BSc(Hons),1961, and PhD,1972, in Mathematics from UNSW. I worked on the development of neutronics computation programs in the Reactor Physics Division of the AAEC at Lucas Heights from 1962 to 1973, including a two year attachment at the UKAEA Winfrith labs in 1965 and 1966. I was a lecturer in the University of Wollongong Mathematics department, specialising in numerical analysis, from 1974 to 1986, with sabbaticals at the UKAEA Culham labs in 1977, and Stanford University in 1983. In 1986, I transferred to the Wollongong Computer Science department, which has since merged into the School of Information Technology and Computer Science. I spent an enjoyable study leave at Sunlabs in Mountain View in 1996. After that, I was the Director of Information Management at ANSTO until 2003. My main interest is in algorithms and numerical methods and my favourite programming languages are C and Fortran.
