Lizzie graduated from UOW in 2018 with a Bachelor of Journalism (Distinction) and has a passion for all things audio. Lizzie is a natural in the studio and has the magic touch when it comes to editing and sound production. She has worked alongside podcasting veterans Siobhan McHugh and Jennifer Macey and is also a freelance music journalist. In her spare time Lizzie performs solo acoustic music, as well as fronting an indie-rock band.

Her favourite podcast at the moment is Everything is Alive, which features fictional interviews with everyday objects, like a can of Coke, a lamp post and a pregnancy test. "It's beautiful, sad and funny all at once, highly recommend listening!"

Can You Tell Me How?

William Verity has been a journalist for over 30 years, a podcaster for six years and has taught media studies to university undergraduates for a decade.

After working as a print journalist in the UK and for Fairfax in Australia, he transitioned into radio and audio journalism. His radio documentaries and news packages for national ABC radio programs have won awards – most recently a special commendation at the UN Peace Awards.

His favourite podcast at the moment is Multistory , a podcast from the BBC curating a wide range of stories from ‘ordinary’ people collected by BBC Local Radio.

Katherine Serplet

Series Executive Producer

Can You Tell Me How?

When there is a story to be told about amazing research or interesting people at UOW, Katherine (known around the office as Kass) always takes an interest. It’s this passion for storytelling that led her to a career in marketing and content production. For Kass, each story is a new opportunity to experiment with different mediums to connect people with the University, and make research accessible to a wide audience.

Her favourite podcast at the moment is The Squiz Today, "I have two small kids and struggle to find time to watch or listen to the news each day so the format is perfect for me".
