First Year at UOWWelcome to your first year at the University of Wollongong. First year at university is an exciting experience, but it can also be quite a shock for many new students, with new routines, expectations and responsibilities. Many students who have confidently dealt with the demands of the HSC are surprised and dismayed by the different and often challenging aspects of tertiary study. Other new students may have been out of an academic environment for a number of years or be struggling to cope with a new language and culture. Many students today also have other responsibilities and stresses to deal with, such as part time work issues and financial demands. DON’T PANIC!! You are not alone in facing these issues and there is a large volume of information and resources available to assist you. This site was designed to help students in their first year settle in at UOW, to answer common questions, and to act as a guide to useful services and information.
