Disabilities Services: guidelines for service

Library staff are available to help students with special needs. Assistance is based on your needs which are assessed by the Disability Liaison Officer.

What can we do to assist you?

  • Catalogue searching
    • For quick searches, visit the Information Desk.
    • For lengthy searches, visit the Research Help Desk.
    • Students should come prepared with keywords and will be expected to interpret the search results and evaluate the list of resources found.
  • Collect materials from the Library shelves
    • Books can be collected from the shelves and borrowed on your behalf.
    • Books must be picked up from the Loans Desk within 2 days.
    • A hold can be placed on a book using your student ID.
  • Database searching
    • For help using the databases, complete the Finding Journal Articles online tutorial.
    • Ask at Research Help Desk for general enquiries or to get started.
    • Postgraduate students can make an appointment with their Faculty Librarian for advice on the best electronic sources to use.
    • Students requiring a search to be conducted on their behalf, and who may require ongoing search assistance, should make an appointment with their Faculty Librarian.
