The International Friendship Program (IFP) provides an opportunity for cultural exchange between international students enrolled at the University of Wollongong and members of the community. The contact provided by the IFP helps students learn first-hand about the Australian lifestyle. It also helps the local community learn about the cultures of our students from around the world. Volunteer hosts include individuals and families, Australian students and members of the University staff.
New students are invited to join the program and if they decide to participate, arrangements are made for them to meet their friendship partner in the first weeks after their arrival. They may invite their student to share a meal with them, to go on a picnic or sightseeing, go to the movies or shopping or simply to meet for lunch on campus. The IFP does not include accommodation or financial commitment. Sometimes the University organises other activities during the year to which all participants are invited.
Applications to join the IFP are invited from any international student who has received their confirmation of enrolment to commence their course or to those who are currently enrolled at the University.
If you would like an application form or would like to find out more about the IFP, please contact: ICIS
