Eligibility
Students who complete all requirements for their degree, diploma or certificate are eligible to graduate at the next series of ceremonies. For example, a student who completes at the end of Spring Session will graduate at a ceremony to be held in December and a student who completes at the end of Summer or Autumn Sessions will graduate at a ceremony to be held in July.
Factors affecting Eligibility
Graduands in Debt to the University:
Graduands who are in debt to the University will not be permitted to graduate until the debt has been cleared. Unpaid fees or fines must be cleared 3 weeks prior to the commencement of the graduation ceremonies. If a debt is cleared later than this, the University cannot guarantee that the graduand's name will appear in the Graduation Program. For information concerning repayment of debts, contact Student Central on 1300 257 869 or email askuow@uow.edu.au.
Postgraduate Research Candidates:
Masters by Research and Doctorate degrees will not be conferred until two bound copies (one for the University Library and one for the Academic Unit) are lodged with the Research Student Centre accompanied by a letter from the Head of the Academic Unit certifying that the corrections, where required, have been satisfactorily completed.
Establishing Eligibility
Your eligibility to graduate will not be confirmed until the certification of results. This will normally occur approximately one-two weeks before the date of the first ceremony. Consequently potential graduands are advised to check their eligibility status on SOLS. Please refer to the Graduation Key Dates for information of when students' eligibility to graduate is confirmed.
