Eligibility
Students who complete all requirements for their degree are eligible to graduate at the next series of ceremonies. For example, a student who completes at the end of Spring Session will graduate at a ceremony to be held in December and a student who completes at the end of Summer or Autumn Sessions will graduate at a ceremony to be held in July.
Factors affecting Eligibility
Graduands in Debt to the University:
Graduands who are in debt to the University may not be permitted to graduate until the debt has been cleared. Unpaid fees or fines must be cleared 3 weeks prior to the commencement of the graduation ceremonies. If a debt is cleared later than this, the University cannot guarantee that the graduand's name will appear in the Graduation Program. For information concerning repayment of debts, contact Student Central on 1300 ASK UOW (1300 275 869), international dialling +61 2 4221 3927 or email askuow@uow.edu.au.
Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates:
HDR degrees will not be conferred until the candidate satisfies the Thesis Examination Committee’s resolution. Candidates must then submit to the Research Student Centre a CD of the final thesis and Thesis Declaration completed by the candidate and principal supervisor.
Establishing Eligibility
Your eligibility to graduate will not be confirmed until the certification of results. This will normally occur approximately one-two weeks before the date of the first ceremony. Consequently potential graduands are advised to check their eligibility status on SOLS under Graduation Confirmation & Eligibility. Please refer to the Graduation Key Dates for further information on the release date of Graduation Eligibility confirmation.
