AusAID Travel
Reunion Airfare
The reunion airfare entitlement is only available to ADS students. Reunion Airfare provides unaccompanied and single ADS students with return travel to their home country, upon the successful completion of each academic year of study.
Reunion Airfare is available for the following:

To arrange reunion airfare contact the UOW AusAID Officer at the completion of your first full year after release of results. The AusAID Officer will make all flight arrangements, providing course requirements have been met.
Travel during session
AusAID sponsored students are not permitted to travel during session. AusAID students who wish to travel during session for emergency purposes only please contact the UOW AusAID Officer to discuss your options.
Travel during session breaks
AusAID students are able to travel during session breaks, please note costs associated with travel during session breaks are not covered by your scholarship, unless you are entitled to Reunion Airfare or have available SEA funds. AusAID sponsored students are required to advise the UOW AusAID Officer of travel plans.
Return Home Travel
AusAID students are required to depart Australia after the completion of their degree. Students must return to their home country prior to the expiry of their visa or within 30 days of the completion of studies, whichever comes first.
At the beginning of your final session of study the AusAID Officer will contact you to arrange your return home flight. Students are required to complete a return home travel form, students travelling with family are asked to carefully consider their options as outlined in the return home travel form.
Conditions of Return Home Travel
- UOW is expected to arrange for the airline or travel agent to advise your sponsor if you do not use your ticket
- Return home travel at the completion of your award must be to the country nominated at the time of placement
- You must return to your home country no later than (3) three working days following the graduation period
- Your sponsor will pay Australian airport departure tax
- Your sponsor will not cover costs such as external taxes, excess baggage, meals or other expenses during travel
- All costs associated with family travel are at the expense of the AusAID sponsored student
- You must travel by the most direct route
- Students are entitled to travel to the airport closest to their home.
- Once a return home ticket is purchased it cannot be varied without the approval of the UOW AusAID Officer
- Your sponsor will cover the cost of accommodation during unavoidable stopover
- If required the UOW AusAID Officer will assist in the booking of family travel, to ensure families are able to travel together
- Cost of transfers for AusAID students is included as part of travel arrangements
- Transfers are only valid from Wollongong and surrounding suburbs, transfers from Sydney and surrounding suburbs are not valid
Scholarship End Dates
Your AusAID contract will specify your scholarship end date.
Course End Date: For coursework students is the date in which examination results are officially released and for research students is the date that you submit your thesis.
Scholarship End Date: Your scholarship end date is 30 days from your Course End Date or the expiry of your visa, which comes first.
Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE) End Date: Your CLE payments will cease 5 days after your Course End Date (unless you depart Australia before this date, your CLE will then cease on your final day in Australia).
