Rooms & Amenities

A choice between two styles of accommodation are available to residents:

Applicants are able to express a preference for one of the above areas, however due to the very high demand for self catered accommodation, returning and postgraduate students are given priority for self catered accommodation.  Potential residents may express a preference for single or mixed gender accommodation. If no preference is expressed, residents may be assigned to mixed gender accommodation.  Campus East does not provide family accommodation or facilities for children, however these are available at Graduate House.

Facilities for students with disabilities
There are a several rooms available at Campus East which are designated for wheelchair access.  There are two rooms in the four bedroom self-catered units and two rooms in the four bedroom flexi catered units which also have access to private ensuite bathrooms.  It is recommended that incoming students have a tour of the residence and discuss their particular needs with our staff well in advance of university commencing.  To organise a tour, please contact Disability Services who will organise for a Disability Officer to assist with the tour and help identify the most suitable accommodation.

Flexi catered accommodation

Flexi catered offers single study-bedrooms in two, three, four or five bedroom units (455 places).

Offering students the ultimate in lifestyle flexibility, Flexi-Choice meal cards allow students to choose from some or all of the seven-day catering provided at the Campus East Food Court and Café TWO FIVE 19. Residents only ever pay for the meals they eat and if needed, shared kitchenettes are available for snack preparation.

Rooms are furnished with:

  • a single bed
  • desk and chair
  • wardrobe and book shelves
  • all rooms have in-room internet access and a telephone
  • The flexi catered rooms are located in:
  • West Block – Units in groups of 3 or 4 study-bedrooms with shared bathroom (Ground to second floors)
  • Trench Town – Units in groups of 2, 3 or 4 study-bedrooms with shared bathroom. (Ground floor only)

Self catered accommodation

Because of the high demand from current Campus East residents, the number of places in self-catered accommodation for commencing undergraduate students is usually limited. We do encourage applications from postgraduate coursework and research students for the various units which have been specially designated for them.

Residents in self catered accommodation enjoy all the amenities of flexi catered rooms in addition to shared cooking facilities in each unit. Students in self catered are also able to purchase snacks and other convenience items from the Campus East Café TWO FIVE 19.
