Frequently asked questions

We suggest you apply as soon as possible as you will have a better chance of receiving your preference. There is a non-refundable application fee that must accompany the application for accommodation.

With more students looking for an on-campus experience post pandemic, demand for student accommodation has increased significantly. This, coupled with the lowest rental vacancy rates in Wollongong in decades has made places in UOW student residences in high demand.

The short answer is no. Do not wait until you receive a confirmed place of admission to the University of Wollongong. If you are thinking of attending the University of Wollongong, complete your accommodation application when you apply for your course. The application fee is a comparatively small investment compared to the cost of searching for accommodation after you have commenced your studies.

If you have applied for accommodation and have not received an offer, then you should contact us to advise us of your plans.

If you have applied for accommodation and have received an offer but have not accepted the offer, then you should allow the offer to lapse.

If you have already accepted an offer of accommodation, contact us for further information.

If you haven‘t applied for accommodation then we suggest you wait until accommodation applications open for the year that you are intending on studying in, and then apply for accommodation.

The application fee is not refundable. It covers the costs associated with processing your application.

While we will do our best, we cannot guarantee that you will receive your preferred residence.

Domestic students

Once UOW offers have been released, those offered a place at UOW will receive confirmation of their accommodation offer and information on how to accept it. Students are asked to keep a close eye on their email as we will be sending offers this way. Please be sure to check your junk mail folders in case our email lands there. Offers are sent via email and have a deadline to be accepted, so you should keep a close eye on your emails throughout the latter part of the year.

International students

International students will be offered accommodation after they receive their Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) to study at UOW. Accommodation offers for the following year will commence in November. Offers are sent via email and have a deadline to be accepted, so you should keep a close eye on your emails throughout the latter part of the year.

None of the residences require applicants to attend an interview.

Student Residence staff are happy to discuss specific student needs both at the point of enquiring about student accommodation and once they become a student in residence. There are a number of designated rooms for students with disabilities across the residences, and depending on the nature of a student’s needs, other non-designated rooms may also be suitable. It is recommended that incoming students have a tour of the residence and discuss their particular needs with our staff well in advance of university commencing. To organise a tour, please contact The Student Accessibility and Inclusion Team who will arrange for a member of their team to assist with the tour and help identify the most suitable accommodation.

You need to contact accom-app@uow.edu.au to have your offer re-instated. Your room/residence preference may no longer be available.
