CAMPUS EAST HOLDs 22ND INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR
Campus East held its 22nd Annual International Food Fair in the grounds of Campus East last Sunday (24 May, 2009).
"The majority of our residents attended the IFF which this year had 22 food stalls", said James Atkinson, Head of Campus East. "Students form country groups and cook up national delicacies. Our students go to a lot of effort in preparing the food, decorating their stalls and many dressed in their national costume and played music representative of their country."
"We saw an increase in the number of countries represented this year at the Fair. For some countries who might only have one of two representatives at Campus East, it's great to see Australian and other international students from other nations joining in to assist them. For the first time ever the Dominican Republic was represented at the Fair."
Popular dishes were the Malaysian Cucur Udang (Prawn Fritters), Slovenian Slastni Kolacki and the Irish Traditional Sweet Yellowman Toffee of Ould.
The largest of the UOW student residences, Campus East is home to over 600 students from 42 different nations. The International Food Fair is one of the many events held at Campus East that recognise the diversity of students living there and links into to its mission of “Diversity, Unity and Pride”.
