Mark Haining Receives Vice-Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Service
Mark Haining, Landscape Supervisor in Accommodation Services, has been recognised for his dedication and commitment to exceptional landscaping and OHS compliance and practices by receiving a Vice-Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Service.
Mark has been an employee with Accommodation Services for 11 years and has recently undertaken two major landscaping project works over the past 12 months at a time when his staffing was reduced. He managed these tasks extremely well, finishing them within the allocated timeframe and within budget.
The outcome has been the successful completion of the Weerona College Student Courtyard Landscaping Project and the International House Front Entrance Landscaping Project.
The Weerona College Student Courtyard project provides students at Weerona with an area to relax, socialise and hold social events in a landscaped environment. Mark oversaw the design and costing of the project and constructed a courtyard where students can enjoy the outdoors, use BBQ facilities and hold the odd game of cricket or lawn bowls.
Much of the planning and design for the International House Front Entrance Project was done in Mark’s own time. The result is a landscaped courtyard entrance to International House featuring native Australian flora, a water feature and paved area. The project also included building the Donor Recognition Wall in the courtyard, where plaques are designed to look like postcards and include a personal message from alumni donors and their national flag in place of a stamp.
Congratulations goes to Mark for his exceptional achievements.
