Conferences
First year university students are not usually eligible to live at Kooloobong , however consideration can be given under special circumstances to individual students.
Kooloobong is located on campus, West of the University buildings in a picturesque location at the base of the Illawarra escarpment.
Kooloobong residents have direct access to all University services and amenities. eg. heated swimming pool, tennis courts, gym, library, bank, food halls, medical facilities.
The complex is administered from Accommodation Services. On-site Resident Life Coordinator and Senior Residents have the responsibility of day to day operations .
Kooloobong can be occupied for 52 weeks of the year, however the following conditions apply:
- A limited number of units are available over the summer period for residents wishing to remain after their licence agreement has terminated.
- Residents can apply for this limited accommodation space , however there is no guarantee that all residents who apply will receive an offer to stay at Kooloobong for Summer.
- As Kooloobong is our primary conference accommodation venue on main campus over Summer Session, the number of rooms available is limited.
- Residents wishing to stay for part or all of the summer period must complete an Application form and pay the application fee. Online applications are available at http://apply-accom.uow.edu.au.
Students
Kooloobong is a 190 bed residence comprised of 38 units, located on the main University campus in Northfields Avenue.
All units are five single bedrooms and residents share bathroom, kitchen and lounge/dining areas. The Kooloobong residential campus caters to residents who wish to live independently - doing their own cooking and cleaning. Units are fully furnished, managed and maintained by University staff.
The licence period of agreement is 39 weeks and fees include electricity and water. (Conditions apply.)
Kooloobong has a diverse population with the majority of residents concluding undergraduate qualifications and a number of the population continuing their post graduate qualifications.

Conferences
Kooloobong is a 190 bed complex situated on the University main campus. It is an ideal location for conferences because of its proximity to the University buildings, services and amenities. Delegates have a single room in a five bedroom furnished apartment, sharing kitchen , living and bathroom facilities. Continental breakfast can be supplied upon request.
Located just 90 minutes drive south of Sydney, the area is renowned for safe and spectacular beaches suitable for swimming and surfing. Easily accessible by public and private transport are tranquil rainforests, national parks and nationally acclaimed sporting facilities.
Directly west is the magnificent Illawarra escarpment which links the region with the picturesque Southern Highlands. The delightful townships of Bowral, Moss Vale, Berrima and rural beauty of Kangaroo Valley Fitzroy and Carrington Falls are ideal for day trips in one or both of the Campus East buses.
Twenty minutes south will bring you to the charming beach side township of Kiama, the hamlet of Jamberoo, the nearby award winning Minnamurra rainforest. The cultural attractions of the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre and the Nan Tien Buddhist temple combine with the natural beauty of the area to offer a wide range of diversions.
